Louis Buie Jr.
PORT GIBSON – Louis Buie Jr. died Friday, May 2, 2008, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 58.
Mr. Buie was preceded in death by his father, Louis Buie Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Louise Buie of Port Gibson; two brothers, Charles Buie and Bobby Buie, both of Port Gibson; three sisters, Caldy Ann Buie and Brenda Carter, both of Chicago, and Linda Parker of Port Gibson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Lou King of Port Gibson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Springhill M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Carl Devine officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
R.W. Carraway Jr.
UTICA – R.W. Carraway Jr. died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at his home in Utica. He was 85.
A lifelong resident of Utica, Mr. Carraway was a member of Utica Christian Church. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving in World War II at the battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Tinian and Saipan.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Carraway of Utica; one daughter, Jane Suggs of Huntsville, Ala.; two sons, Dickey Carraway and Dennis Carraway, both of Utica; two sisters, Mildred Morrison of Jackson and Gladys Allgood of Benton; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Utica Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
Memorials may be made to Utica Christian Church, P.O. Box 306, Utica, MS 39175.
Glenwood Funeral Home of Utica has charge of arrangements.
Jerutha W. Garrett
Services for Jerutha W. Garrett will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gospel Temple M.B. Church with the Rev. Walter Edley officiating. Burial will follow at Zollinger Cemetery, U.S. 61 South.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday with family hour at 5 p.m. at Williams Funeral Service and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mrs. Garrett died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.
Mrs. Garrett was retired from the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. She was a member of Gospel Temple M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Garrett Sr.; her parents, Will Watson and Belzonia Rayford; and two brothers, Wesley Smith and Bernard Watson.
Survivors include five sons, Ronald Garrett and Wayne Garrett, both of Clinton, Larry Garrett of Utica, George Garrett Jr. of Markham, Ill., and Gregory Garrett of Winslow, Ariz.; two daughters, Jerutha “Rita” Dunigan of Winslow and Linda Wardley of Vicksburg; a brother, Will Watson of Clinton; a sister, Ann Price of Altadena, Calif.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Kay Doyle and Patricia Chocolate of Vicksburg.
Frankie Hall
Services for Frankie Hall will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Salvation Army Chapel on Mission 66 with Capt. Patrick Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home and Saturday at The Salvation Army from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mrs. Hall died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 59.
Mrs. Hall had worked for the Vicksburg Warren School District and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wardell Hall; her parents, Earline and Frank Kelly Jr.; a grandson, Munchearl Mondell Hall; six sisters, Zelma Kelly, Christine Promise, Susie Bell Norris, Lucille Jones, Josephine Turner and Pauline Williams; and two brothers, Ruben Kelly and Bennie Kelly.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Hall Moore of Vicksburg and Catherine Hall of Minneapolis, Minn.; one son, Otis V. Hall of Vicksburg; one brother, Charles Kelly of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Henry Thompson.
Shelia F. Hutson
MANSFIELD, La. – Shelia F. Hutson died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Willis Knighten Piermont in Shreveport, La. She was 53.
Mrs. Hutson was a resident of Mansfield, La.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Beckwith Golden Gate Funeral Home, St. Mary’s Chapel, in Tallulah. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Madeline Grace Jeffers
TALLULAH – Madeline Grace Jeffers, infant daughter of Mary Elizabeth Williamson and Greg D. Jeffers of Tallulah, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at her home in Tallulah.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Keith Williamson.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Marsha Jeffers of Clinton and Paul Lynn of Vicksburg; and her maternal grandparents, Dr. Tom and Wendy Sligh of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 5 today at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah.
Fred Jones
PORT GIBSON – Fred Jones died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 77.
Mr. Jones was a member of Morningstar M.B. Church in Lorman, where he served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Baptist Aid. He was a veteran of the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Anna Williams Jones of Port Gibson; five sons, Gregory Eakins of Fayette and Michael Williams, Fredrick Jones, Samuel Lee Jones and Samuel Douglas Jones, all of Port Gibson; four daughters, Jacqueline Jones, Diane Jones, Michelle Jones and Cara Jones, all of Port Gibson; one brother, Douglas Jones of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Carrie Moore of New Orleans; 29 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Morningstar M.B. Church with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
Mary Cecile Dornbusch King
OXFORD – Mary Cecile Dornbusch King, 84, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at her home in Oxford.
The daughter of William Kette and Mary Alice Kirk Dornbusch, she was born and raised in Vicksburg. She graduated from All Saints’ Episcopal School, where she was valedictorian of the Class of 1940. She attended Mississippi State College for Women before graduating from Mississippi State University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Menton King; a son, William Travis King; and a grandson, Allen Lee Murphy Jr.
She is survived by her brother, William Kette Dornbusch of Vicksburg; three daughters, Katherine Cecile King, Margaret Elizabeth King and Carolyn Kirk King Bramlett and her husband, Eugene, all of Oxford; a son, Allan Reed King and his wife, Nancy, of Lexington, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Oxford University United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, with the Revs. Warren Black and Claire Dobbs officiating. Visitation will be in Wesley Hall at the church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include her two grandsons, Travis King and Taylor Maddux, as well as Nathan May, Pat Tatum, Tim Tatum and Dave Tatum.
Designated as honorary pallbearers will be Greg Thomas, Stephen Bramlett, William Strickland and Bill Tatum.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to North Mississippi Hospice, 104 Skyline Drive, Oxford, MS 38655 or to Oxford University United Methodist Church, 424 S. 10th St., Oxford, MS 38655.

Lois P. Machen
TALLULAH – Lois P. Machen died Thursday, May 8 , 2008, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 88.
Mrs. Machen had lived in Louisiana most of her life.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Silver Cross Cemetery with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Willie Mae Higgins Moore
MATTESON, Ill. – Willie Mae Higgins Moore died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Decatur, Ill. She was 68.
Born in Hinds County, Mrs. Moore attended Utica Institute, Utica Junior College and Jackson State University, where she received a degree in elementary education. She taught in Rolling Fork and Chicago, where she retired from John M. Smyth School in 1998. She was a resident of Matteson, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Percy Higgins.
She is survived by a daughter, Renata Charissa Moore of Forsyth, Ill.; her mother, Alene Jacobs Higgins of Utica; three sisters, Christein Spencer of Chicago, Percy Jean Schruby of Los Angeles and Gwendolyn Robinson of Utica; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jackson. Burial will be Wednesday at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park, Ill. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday with family present from 5 until 7 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
Mary K. Schultz
Mrs. Mary K. “Cissie” Schultz died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 91.
A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ruby Tucker Kleinman. She was a graduate of Culkin Academy and served some 34 years as dietician and cafeteria manager at Culkin School.
Mrs. Schultz was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and St. Michael Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joey Schultz; granddaughter, Angela Schultz Shiers; and three brothers, Walter “Bee” Kleinman, Albert “Red” Kleinman and Harry Lee “Woody” Kleinman.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Herman J. Schultz; one sister, Louise Bowers; two granddaughters, Stacy Schultz Hartley and Julie Haynes; and three great-granddaughters, Ginger Shiers, Magen Hartley and Jordan Hartley, all of Vicksburg.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Revs. P.J. Curley and Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Friday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hartley, Martin Pace, John Kleinman, Billy Bowers, David Bowers, Travis Wayne Vance Jr., Red Kleinman and Tim Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper Trevillion, Bob Harold, Jim Harold, Gerald Harmon, Bill Seabergh, Chris Hartley, Benson Kleinman and Shane Gray.
