Brandy WallaceA Vicksburg woman accused of driving drunk and killing an 81-year-old man has been indicted and arraigned on her charges by the May term of the Warren County Grand Jury.

The aggravated-DUI case of Brandy Wallace, 26, will now face prosecution. Her charges stem from the Nov. 5 death of John E. Parrette, who was run over and killed that afternoon as he was retrieving his mail in front of his home on Roseland Drive. Parrette was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy showed he died from head trauma.

Vicksburg Police said Wallace was northbound with no passengers on Roseland at an unknown speed when her 2002 Toyota Tacoma went off the street and hit Parrette. They said evidence at the scene led police to believe she was intoxicated. Wallace was arrested and charged with the felony offense, which carries a sentence of five to 25 years in prison and requires a minimum 85 percent of the sentence be served.

If so, indictments are issued View Grand Jury Reportand defendants, most of whom have been free on bond, appear at a formal arraignment to hear the charges they face. Most then remain free on bond pending resolution of the indictments through a trial or plea bargains.

When a jury finds there’s not enough evidence for a case to be prosecuted or that the charges should be reduced, they return a no bill.
