Elizabeth H. NelsonMrs. Elizabeth H. Nelson died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 92 years old. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and attended All Saints’ College.

Mrs. Nelson and her husband, George A. Nelson, resided in Bethesda, Md., for 57 years, returning to Vicksburg in 1998. She was a member of the Church of The Little Flower in Bethesda and was active in several church guilds including Mary Theresa, Sacristy Committee and Choir. She was a Red Cross volunteer for 17 years at St. Maurice School for Children with special learning disabilities. Mrs. Nelson was involved in scouting and blood mobiles. She enjoyed gardening and traveled throughout the world with her husband. After returning to Vicksburg, Mrs. Nelson was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, serving on The Altar Society and Ladies Sodality.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George A. Nelson; and her son, Edward Nelson.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her daughter, Patricia Nelson Dicher and her husband, Lance, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and her sister Mrs. Edna Henry Hosemann of Vicksburg.

A Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May, 13, 2008, at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 this evening, May 12, 2008, at Fisher Funeral Home with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Warner Biedenharn, Herman Biedenharn, David Biedenharn, Jimmy Biedenharn, Richard Biedenharn, Herman Biedenharn III, David Hosemann and Jimmy Halford.

John L. SadlerJohn L. “Dotson” Sadler died Friday, May 9, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 59.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Artemease Sadler Ferguson and John Dotson; a brother, James “Pete” Sadler.

Survivors include his sons, John Sadler Jr. and Jimmy Sadler, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Dorothy Neal of Florida; four brothers, J.W. Sadler and Ervin Ferguson, both of Hampton, Va., and Lee Arthur Sadler and Marcus Ferguson, both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Jerry Hawkins of Willowbrook, Ill., Shirley Ferguson, Charlene Allen and Lydia Ferguson, all of Vicksburg, and Louvinnia Sotomayor of Newport News, Va.; a stepbrother, Robert Pettis of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and Annie Wilson Pettis and the Brown family.

William Paul ShelbyWilliam Paul Shelby died Friday, May 9, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 28.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Shelby attended Porters Chapel Academy.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.C. Shelby; his stepfather, Harold Thompson; and a sister, Donna Kay Rushing.

Survivors include one son, Christian Lee Truelove of Vicksburg; his mother, Sybil Thompson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Daniel Thompson of Vicksburg and Leslie Dwayne Thompson of Drew; and two sisters, Connie Thompson of Vicksburg and Patricia Thompson of Memphis.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike McCain, Travis Johnson, Thomas Middleton, Tim Leverette and David LaSalle.
