Born in Fayette, Mr. Ballard was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Angela Judge and D’wright Judge.

Survivors include his wife, Bettye Mitchell Ballard of Vicksburg; two sons, Joseph Ballard Jr. of Vicksburg and Quincy Williams of Redwood; five daughters, Helen Carter and Kimberly Brown, both of Vicksburg, Linda Perkins Buchanan of Washington, D.C., and Lekeshia Ballard and Lynnelle Judge, both of Chicago; two stepsons, Jeffrey Brown and Tracy Brown, both of Vicksburg; three stepdaughters, Pamela Brown, Shonya Brown and Sandra Brown, all of Vicksburg; 16 grandchildren; and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Woodrow David Buck

PORT GIBSON – Services for Woodrow David Buck will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at King David Christian Church in Hermanville with Pastor Percy Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at Buck Cemetery in Hermanville under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mr. Buck died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in Fort Washington, Md. He was 89.

A resident of Port Gibson, Mr. Buck was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was retired from Magnolia Trailers of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Ruth Brown Buck; one son, Sammy Buck; a sister, Hattie Buck Miller; two brothers, Dude Buck Jr. and Will Buck; and his parents, Dude Sr. and Mariah Buck.

He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Parker Adams of Fort Washington; two sons, Bennie Parker of Washington, D.C., and Virgil Parker of Port Gibson; three stepdaughters, Marie Wilson of Washington, D.C., Yancey Aukward of Suitland, Md., and Jeannettee Johnston of Clinton, Md.; two stepsons, Delanders Parker of Port Gibson and Elvis Parker of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Harry Buck of Hermanville; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Sandra Kay Head

Sandra Kay HeadST. JOSEPH – Sandra Kay Head, age 67, of Calhoun, La., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the Terrace in West Monroe after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease and Alzheimer’s. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Wesley Chapel in St. Joseph with Pastor Larry Foster officiating. Burial will be at Legion Cemetery in Newellton.

Mrs. Head was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Von Head. Sandra was devoted to her family and was always concerned about others. She was a passionate, gifted gardener; a wonderful cook; and she loved to fish. She attended Northeast Louisiana University and was a member of the First United Methodist Women’s Guild of Monroe, La.

Survivors include a son, Daryl Head of St. Joseph; daughter, Pamela Head of Covington, La.; brother, Carter Webb of St. Joseph; and sister, Johnnie Morrison of Harahan, La.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Head, Stanley Head, Coates Head, Walker Head, Joey Moore, Mark Morrison and Cole Blanche.

Daryl and Pam wish to extend special thanks to the administration and staff of The Arbor and Terrace Assisted Living Facility in West Monroe for the loving care and special kindness shown to our mother throughout her illness. We can never thank you enough for the peace of mind in knowing that our mother was in her safe and loving place throughout this.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

The family requests that any donations be directed to Lewy Body Disease and Alzheimer’s Research.

Mary Tribble-Caldwell

Our dear, departed mother, Mary Tribble-Caldwell, died May 11, 2008. She was 70.

Mrs. Tribble-Caldwell was a retired private-duty nurse. She was a faithful member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church before becoming a member of King Solomon M.B. Church. She was on the mother board and was truly a Christian woman. She faithfully loved the Lord.

Mrs. Tribble-Caldwell was a wonderful, beautiful, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Mrs. Tribble-Caldwell is in heaven with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Virginia Walker Tribble; her son, Jaymes D. O’Neal; and her niece, Bettye Ann Walker.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory forever her husband, Sullivan L. Caldwell; one daughter, Mary J. O’Neal-Carter of Vicksburg; two sons, George O’Neal Jr. and Calvin O’Neal, both of Vicksburg; six sisters, Grace Tribble of Chicago, Annie Mae Tribble of Inglewood, Calif., Johnethel Marlow of Compton, Calif., Annie Lou Tribble of Aurora, Ill., Minnette Tribble of Los Angeles and Annette Page of Vicksburg; four brothers, Jimmie Tribble of Bainbridge, Ga.., Tom Tribble of Minneapolis, Minn., Joseph “Joe” Tribble Jr. of Chicago and Tommy B. Tribble of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren, including Keith L. Carter of Vicksburg; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, including the Walker, Tribble, Jackson and O’Neal families.
