Vicksburg man gets 10 years in molestation of girl, 13|[05/24/08]

In Warren County Circuit Court during the week that ended Friday, a 49-year-old Vicksburg man accused of having sexual relations in 2004 with a 13-year-old girl was handed a 10-year sentence.

Carl Marshall, 1302 Harrison St., who pleaded guilty to molestation and gratification of lust, was ordered by Judge Isadore Patrick to serve five years in prison, followed by five years of probation. On April 29, Marshall openly pleaded guilty to the charges, meaning there was no plea agreement and no recommendation for a sentence made by the District Attorney’s Office.

Also, Mike McAlister, 37, 10150 U.S. 61 South Lot 23, pleaded guilty to grand larceny and received a five-year sentence from Patrick. Patrick ordered that sentence be suspended and that McAlister be placed on probation for five years. McAlister was also ordered to pay $3,735.59 in fines, court costs, assessments and restitution.

McAlister pleaded guilty to stealing items from a roommate Dec. 1, 2007.

In Sharkey County Circuit Court:

Jimmie Derrell Hall, 30, 203 W. China St., Rolling Fork, was sentenced by Patrick to one year in prison, followed by five years of probation. Hall had pleaded guilty to burglarizing two vehicles on March 11, 2007, in Rolling Fork. Hall was also ordered to pay $812.50 in fines, court costs and assessments.

Shelton Henry, 30, 35 Fourth St., Glen Allen, was sentenced by Patrick to 30 days in prison, followed by five years of probation. Henry had pleaded guilty to possessing a controlled substance on Feb. 21, 2007, in the 100 block of Russell Circle in Rolling Fork.

Corrdarryl Hubbard, 21, 32 North Fifth St., Rolling Fork, pleaded guilty to auto theft and burglary of a dwelling and was handed a three-year suspended sentence. Patrick further ordered that Hubbard be placed on probation for five years and pay $312.50 in court costs and assessments. Hubbard’s conviction stems from an offense March 14, 2007, in the 300 block of Race Road in Rolling Fork.

Leedell Smith, 25, P.O. Box 265, Cary, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced by Patrick to 30 days in jail, followed by five years of probation. He was also ordered to pay $6,673 in fines, court costs, assessments and restitution. Henry pleaded guilty to a May 28, 2006, offense at the Maiden Addition Apartments in Cary.
