Evron B. Burton
Mrs. Evron B. Burton died at her home May 26, 2008. She was 84.
A native of Russellville, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Cliffton R. And Gladys Hicks Butts. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School. Mrs. Burton worked for LeTourneau for 10 years, Mercy Hospital for three years and Community Council of Warren County for some 26 years.
Mrs. Burton was an active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, serving in the choir and teaching Sunday school for a number of years.
Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, J.D. Burton; and two sons, Jeff and Robert Burton.
She is survived by her son, Eulyas E. and wife Glenda Kleinman Burton of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren, Kelly Rivet of Prairieville, La., Euylas Burton Jr. of Bogue Chitto, Miss., Carrie Fossier of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kim Leteff of Columbia, La., Robbie Day of Clarks, La., Evron Sampson of Hot Springs, Ark., Marcella Dean of Brighton, Tenn., Stacie Moffett of Collinsville, Miss., Tammy Davidson of Richmond, Va., Anthony Burton of Richmond, Va., and Lucy Cason of Okinawa, Japan; 22 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Campbell, pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Yazoo County.
Pallbearers will be Don Hollowell, Thomas Hollowell, Russell Hollowell, Euylas Burton Jr., Carroll Smith and Cecil Bryant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hendrik M. Kuiper and the staff of Odyssey Hospice.

Abe Floyd Jr.
RIVERDALE, Ga. – Services for Abe Floyd Jr. will be at noon Wednesday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. today with the family present from 4 until 6.
Mr. Floyd died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Ga. He was 59.
Mr. Floyd was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of Vicksburg Chemical, where he worked for a number of years as a chemical operator. He was a 1968 graduate of Addison High School in Port Gibson. He also attended Alcorn State University.
He was preceded in death by his father, Abe Floyd Sr.; his son, Michael Toran “Pete” Floyd; two sisters, Eva Neil Morrow and DanEthel Floyd; and a brother, Robert Earl Floyd.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Floyd of Vicksburg; three sons, Darryl Floyd of Vicksburg, Abe Floyd III of Jonesboro, Ga., and Tommie Jackson Jr. of Memphis; a daughter, Doris Fisher of Vicksburg; his mother, Mary Steed Floyd of Vicksburg; three sisters, Annie Brown of Vicksburg and Clara Myles and Thelma Roach, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; four grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Terrell Loving.
Gideon Washington Funches Sr.
EDWARDS – Services for Gideon Washington “Bubba” Funches Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Oak Ridge M.B. Church on Newman Road in Edwards with the Rev. Philip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. today at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Mr. Funches died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 80.
Mr. Funches was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was a heavy-equipment operator. He also was retired from the timber industry.
He was a member of New Oak Ridge M.B. Church, where he served on the usher board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philmore Funches and Ruth Flaggs Funches; two brothers, Sumril Robert Funches Sr. and Ben Zack Milton; and two children, Diane Funches and Robert Earl Funches.
He is survived by six sons, Gideon W. Funches Jr. of Nashville, Larry Funches of Lansing, Mich., Michael Funches of Edwards, Gerone G. Funches of Gardena, Calif., and Calvin Funches and Kennedy Funches, both of Los Angeles; nine daughters, Patricia Funches of Los Angeles, Beverly C. Funches of Hawthorne, Calif., Mary E. Funches of Long Beach, Calif., Janice Thompson of Clinton, Barbara Bridges of Jackson and Brenda L. Heard, Mary F. Woodhouse, Shirley Williams and Annette Jones, all of Edwards; one brother, Walter Funches of Detroit; one sister, Poncella Williams of Myrtle Springs, Md.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Barbara Anne Reagan
Barbara Anne Reagan died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at her residence. She was 69.
Born in Niantic, Conn., she had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1975. She was the daughter of the late Clack E. Stuart and Lucy Shallcross Stuart Paradise.
Barbara had been employed by Bechtel Corporation as a nuclear technician and by other corporations in the nuclear industry. She graduated from the Hinds Community College School of Nursing in 1994, earning her licensed practical nurse degree. She was employed at Marian Hill and the Medical Clinic of Mississippi prior to her retirement. After her retirement, Barbara developed her artistic skills, sharing her paintings with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving companion of 41 years, Franklin P. Howard; three daughters, Katherine Silvia, Sharon Reagan and Leigh Reagan, all of Niantic; three grandchildren, Stephen Dixon, Frank Silvia and Kelly Silvia; and two great-grandchildren, Patra Silvia and Jasmine Dixon.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date by Riles Funeral Home.

Beatrice Thompson
PORT GIBSON – Beatrice Thompson died Tuesday, May 20, 2008. She was 71.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church in Port Gibson, serving on the usher board. She was a member of Port Heron Chapter No. 191, Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Thompson; a son, Dennis Thompson; a daughter, LaKeisha Thompson; three brothers, Roosevelt Linston, Alonzo Dotson and Ronnie Dotson; and a sister, Rosie Lee Magee.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Vance and Janice Thompson, both of Port Gibson; six brothers, Roosevelt Dotson of Port Gibson, Luscious Dotson of Cannonsburg, Miss., Sherman Dotson of Atlanta and Larry Dotson, Wendell Dotson and Donnie Dotson, all of Minneapolis; two sisters, Melvena Hall of Tennessee and Tarae Dotson of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson. Visitation will be from noon until the service at the church.
