Addie Lucille Massey Feroben
TALLULAH – Addie Lucille Massey Feroben died Monday, June 9, 2008, in Tallulah. She was 93.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Kemper Feroben; her daughter, Louise Posey Forbes; her parents, James J.I. and Sarah “Sally” Massey; four sisters, Vera King, Winnie Smith, Ollie Neal and Laura Welch; a brother, James Massey; and a grandson, Frankie Forbes.
She is survived by five daughters, Levelle Walker of Decatur, Shirley Jay of Waverly, La., Retha Jenkins of Delta, Letha Bailey of Vicksburg and Flora Lively of Columbus, Ga.; one son, Thomas Long of Natchez; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Waverly Baptist Church with the Revs. Jay Simms and Don Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at McKnight Cemetery in Holly Ridge, La., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville, La. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the church.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Boogie Long, Buster Bailey, Terry Fuller, DeWayne Lively, Gary Lively and Stevie Lively.
Michael Austin Flowers
Michael Austin Flowers, infant son of Angela Mathes and Michael Frank Flowers of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at River Region Medical Center.
Born in Vicksburg, he was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Ernest and Alicia Mathes of Vicksburg and Karen and Robert Redden of Utica; and his great-grandparents, Doris and Tommy Ivey of Port Gibson and James Miles and Martha Redding, both of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the service.
Michael Keith Gaskin
Services for Michael Keith Gaskin will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. Thursday at Robbins Funeral Home.
Mr. Gaskin died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 44.
Mr. Gaskin was a self-employed roofer. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Lee Gaskin; and his grandparents, Edward Sr. and Alberta Gaskin and George and Fannie Mae Washington.
Survivors include his father, Edward Lee Gaskin Jr. of Vicksburg; three brothers, Edward Gaskin, Eddie James Maniel and Lonnie Maniel, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Barbara Maniel of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
John Hill Martin
GRENADA – John Hill Martin died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. He was 86.
Mr. Martin was a member of Wayside Baptist Church where he was ordained as deacon in 1954 and served as church treasurer for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He was employed at Pennaco Hosiery Mill as a mechanic for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Stella Martin; his wife, Marie Martin; and one sister, Polly Sivley.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Kilpatrick of Clinton; a son, John H. Martin Jr. of Vicksburg; a sister, Ann Curtis of Winona; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; and two nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada with William Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Cemetery at Scobey.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Sister Mary Elise Todd, RSM
Sister Mary Elise Todd, RSM, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Mercy in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Webb, Miss., graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy in Vicksburg and entered the Sisters of Mercy in St. Louis in 1940.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edythe Hamilton Todd and Charles Lovell Todd; aunt, Sister Elizabeth Todd, RSM; brother, Sam Todd; and two sisters, Charlene Todd Yoste and Edythe Kestenbaum.
She is survived by nephews Harry Yoste Jr., Charles T. Yoste, Robert Yoste, Peter Kestenbaum and Kenneth Kestenbaum; several great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as numerous cousins.
She received her bachelor of science from Loyola University in New Orleans and received her master’s from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and Mississippi State University in Starkville. She taught for 50 years in the Mercy schools in Mississippi, spending 25 years teaching math and science at St. Joseph High School in Jackson. She also taught in Vicksburg, Hattiesburg, Gulfport, Biloxi and Greenville. After retiring from the Catholic School system, she was involved in tutoring adults in math and literacy. She tutored Vietnamese and high school dropouts from the detention center in Jackson. She is remembered as a very dedicated teacher.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated June 13, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Cathedral in Jackson. The celebrant will be one of her colleagues, the Rev. Al Camp, assisted by her former student, Deacon David Warriner of the New Orleans Archdiocese. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. June 13 at St. Peter’s Cathedral. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. June 12 and an hour before Mass on June 13. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Patrick Farrell of St. Paul Catholic Church presiding.
Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Harry Yoste Jr., Charles T. Yoste, Robert Yoste, Peter Kestenbaum, Kenneth Kestenbaum and Troy Todd Kestenbaum. Honorary pallbearer will be Samuel H. Todd II.
