Gilbert Lacy Sr.
TEXAS CITY, Texas – Gilbert Lacy Sr. departed this life at his home on Thursday, June 12, 2008.
Mr. Lacy was born March 24, 1930, in Vicksburg to the late Willie Lacy Sr. and Luberta Wilson Lacy. He was a member of Mount Paran M.B. Church, where he served in the brotherhood and as a trustee. He was employed with Labor Local No. 116 in Texas City, Texas, and retired as a labor foreman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie Mae Lacy; and a brother, Willie Lacy Jr.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Charles Lacy (Jeannette), Sandra Donald (Benjamin), Marvin Lacy, Jan Lacy, Willie Lacy (Chelisa) and Florence Aaron, all of Texas City, Youlander Gardner (Kenneth) of La Marque, Texas, Gilbert Lacy Jr. (Brenda) of Houston, Renard Hudson (Leslie) of League City, Texas, and Linda Lacy, Brenda Lacy and Linda Blackmo, all of Mississippi; a sister, Elizabeth Sanders of Vicksburg; a brother, Tommie Tribble of Vicksburg; a devoted nephew, Marshall Sanders (Deborah) of Vicksburg; devoted nieces, Gladys Sanders of Jackson and Patricia Sanders of Vicksburg; devoted brothers-in-law, George and Elizabeth Tyler of Texas City and James and Dorothy Moses and Calvin Moses, all of Clarksville; and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque with a wake following from 7 until 8. Homegoing services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at Greater Barbour’s Chapel Baptist Church, 7420 FM 1765 in Texas City. The Rev. James E. Brown Sr., pastor, and Dr. W.W. Jackson Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
Josephine R. Mallett
Josephine R. Mallett died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
A private-duty nurse, Mrs. Mallett was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Deborah Grand chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Mallett; one son, Robert Robertson; and her mother, Bertiel Robinson.
Survivors include three sons, John H. Pinkard of Vicksburg, Miss., Herman McNeal of Vicksburg, Mich., and LeDoris McNeal of South Bend, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Donald W. Powers
TALLULAH – Donald W. “Donnie” Powers, age 61 of Tallulah, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, in East Carroll Parish, La., following a massive heart attack.
Donnie was born in Vicksburg and had lived in Madison Parish most of his life. He was a welder, builder, pipe-fitter, gardener and great friend to many. He was best known for his country store, “Po-Boy Don’s,” where he and his wife, Hattie, served Louisiana cooking to hundreds of local, regional and national guests.
Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating, assisted by the Rev. Cleatus Moak. The visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Hattie Mayberry Powers; two sons, Phillip Keith Powers and wife Sheila of Tallulah and Paul Patrick Powers of Vicksburg. “Pappi” also had a loving grandson and fishing partner, Brandon Wright Powers.
He is also survived by two brothers, James W. “Sonny” Powers Jr. of Laneville, Texas, and Frederick Andrew “Booby” Powers of Tallulah; and his three sisters, Joan Powers of Alexandria, La., Jeanette Bamburg of Winnfield, La., and Reba Cooper of Carmel, Ind. He has a host of nieces and nephews that will miss their “Uncle Do-Right.”
Pallbearers will be Charles Fondren, Billy Sevier, Ronnie Bedgood, Drew Powers, Donnie “Dig” Powers and Bo Powers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Bedgood, John Matthews and Kenny Smith.
Mike Richardson
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Mike Richardson, 54, passed away suddenly June 14, 2008.
Mike was born in Burlington, Vt., on Sept. 30, 1953, to Edward F. and Muriel T. Richardson. Mike graduated from Bethel High School, Hampton, Va., in 1971. He received his bachelor of science in engineering science and mechanics from Virginia Tech in 1975.
Mike was employed for 30 years by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was currently working at Fort Monroe. He was an avid runner, having run in several half-marathons and was training to run in his first marathon. Mike also loved to brew his own concoctions of beer that were very much enjoyed by his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Patricia “Trish” Richardson; daughters, Stephanie Richardson and Jennifer Richardson and her husband, Shawn Hesman; his brother, Edward F. Richardson Jr. and wife Lynn; his sister, Lynn R. Pirie and husband Walt; his brother, Kenneth B. Richardson and wife Beth; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Va. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In addition to the service, a celebration of his life will take place at the Green Leafe, 765 Scotland St., downtown Williamsburg, from 2 until 5 p.m.

Priscilla Bingham Spencer
Priscilla Bingham Spencer died Monday, June 16, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 97.
Mrs. Spencer was born in Warren County and attended Warren County Schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Bingham Memorial M.B. Church, where she was a former secretary. She was a member of Household of Ruth and the Loving Unity Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Spencer; two sisters, Alma Rollison and Frances Bingham; five brothers, Lemuel Bingham, Judge R. Bingham Jr., Jeremiah D. Bingham, Louis C. Bingham and the Rev. Joseph T. Bingham; and her parents, the Rev. Judge Robert Bingham Sr. and Julia Ann Edmond Bingham.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Dorothy Williams of Maricopa, Ariz.; two brothers, Haskell S. Bingham of Petersburg, Va., and George W. Bingham of Grenada; two sisters, Roberta B. Kennedy of Vicksburg and Julia B. Thomas of Greenville; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
