A Vicksburg man wanted for murder in a June 8, 2007, shooting near downtown is back in the Warren County Jail, police said.

Eric Campbell, 27, 503 Fairground St., now joins Antonio Glasper, 22, 74 Redhawk Road, behind bars after turning himself in at the Vicksburg Police Department at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. Both men were initially arrested and were charged with aggravated assault and other crimes about 12 hours after the shooting of David Becker, 26, and Lee Sherman Yates, 42, both of 712 Speed St., where the shooting took place.

Becker died from his injuries Sunday at University Medical Center, and the charges against Campbell and Glasper were upgraded to murder. Glasper, who had remained in jail since his June 8 arrest, was officially notified of his murder charge Monday night in Vicksburg Municipal Court, but police had not been able to locate Campbell until he surrendered Tuesday. Campbell had been released from the Warren County Jail on a $95,000 bond since being arrested 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Stewart said Campbell is to have a bond hearing on his upgraded charge today in Municipal Court. At Glasper’s court hearing Monday, Municipal Judge Lewis Burke granted the co-defendant a $100,000 bond on his murder charge, saying Glasper had no criminal history.

Police said the shooting followed a fight near Speed and Hunt streets, a block from Becker and Yates’ home. Police said that the fight involved one of the victim’s juvenile sons. In addition to murder, each faces one count of aggravated assault, drive-by shooting and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
