Mary Lee Griffin Bell

Mary Lee Griffin Bell died Friday, July 4, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Bell was born in Warren County. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where she served as a choir member and member of the Mount Carmel Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Arthur Bell; her parents, Phil Griffin and Emily Janie Gallaway Griffin; six brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include one sister, Georgia M. Howard of Maywood, Ill. and nieces and nephews.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Levi Allen Hutton

Levi Allen Hutton died Friday, July 4, 2008, at his home. He was 97.

Mr. Hutton was retired from General Motors in St. Louis, Mo.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Hutton of Vicksburg; a daughter, Jessie Marie Showa of Vicksburg; a son, Michael Ray Hutton of Texas; two sisters, Margie Miles and Francis Sullivan, both of Louisville, Miss.; a brother, Elsie Hutton of Louisville; and 11 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Green Acres Cemetery with the Chaplain Ernie Hall officiating.

Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Buford Johnson

Services for Mary “Ma Mae” Buford Johnson will be at noon Tuesday at Lakeview Memorial Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from noon to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 96.

She was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church, where she served on the Mother Board.

She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. J.B. Buford; her mother, Gertrude Woodson Buford; and her son-in-law, Arthur Williams Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Luella Williams of Vicksburg; four granchildren, Arthur James Williams of Vicksburg, Ronald Lee Williams of Port Gibson, Dennis Michael Wlliams of Topeka, Kan., and David Dwain Williams of Dallas; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

James Walter Knox Sr.

James Walter “Son” Knox Sr. died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 92.

Mr. Knox was a retired truck driver for Gulf Oil Company. He was a member of Clover Valley M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Knox and Elizabeth Funches Knox; one brother, Woodrow Knox; three sisters, Anna Bell Brown, Georgiana Williams and Gleneva Johnson; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Turner Knox; two sons, James W. Knox Jr. of Vicksburg and George W. Knox of Cordova, Tenn.; three daughters, Laura Williams and Geraldine Geter, both of Pontiac, Mich., and Khelli L. Knox of Dallas; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe Lindigrin

ROCKWALL, Texas – Joe Lindigrin was born in Vicksburg on June 21, 1941, and died unexpectedly Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Medical Center Dallas at the age of 67, surrounded by friends and family.

Mr. Lindigrin was preceded in death by his father, Joe Lindigrin Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Mattie Storey; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph Anthony and Elizabeth Lindigrin.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geraldine Conn Lindigrin; a son, Jeff Lindigrin and wife, Andrea, of Rockwall, Texas; a daughter, Sherry Lindigrin of Vicksburg; his mother, Francis Lindigrin of Vicksburg; two brothers, David Lindigrin and wife Elizabeth of Clinton and John Lindigrin and wife Cherri of Vicksburg; a sister, Lynda Willoughby and husband Billy of Vicksburg; and five beloved grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lindigrin graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1959, attended Hinds Community College and later Mississippi State University.

He was employed by the L.M. Berry Company, where he won many outstanding sales awards. For 21 years, he owned Jackson Specialty Advertising in Jackson, retiring in 2004.

Lifelong Mississippians, Joe and Geraldine had recently moved from Madison to Rockwall, Texas, to be near their son and grandchildren. He always told people the youngest, Mackenzie (“Mack”), age 2 1/2, had the longest little arms, pulling them to leave their home state of Mississippi.

Joe and Geraldine traveled extensively throughout the country and overseas. One of his favorite places was St. Andrews, Scotland, where he played the Old Course twice. Joe never met a stranger. He easily made friends wherever he traveled with his unique personality, charm and wit. His infectious laugh and grin made him a friend to many. He was a great storyteller, and he loved to tell them to everyone he met.

His love for the Mississippi Bulldogs was deep and unwavering. He never became discouraged. He was always the first to say, with all his heart, “Just wait
