George Spencer Lewis

LONG BEACH, Calif. — George Spencer Lewis died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at his home in Long Beach, Calif. He was 63.

Mr. Lewis was a native of Vicksburg and graduated in 1961 from Rosa A. Temple High School. He was an author of numerous books, president of Spencer’s International and founder of Heritages of Our Father’s Inc. radio ministry.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Euge Lewis Sr.

Survivors include one daughter, Shebette Lewis of Los Angeles; his mother, Carrie J. Lewis of Vicksburg; three brothers, James E. Lewis Jr. of Detroit, Ameen Al-Islam of Vicksburg and Clinton N. Lewis of Las Vegas; four sisters, Carolyn P. Jones and Mary Lewis, both of Vicksburg, Gladys E. Cretain of Jackson and Deborah R. Dillard of Las Vegas; and one granddaughter.

Services are incomplete with Harrison Perez Funeral Home of Long Beach in charge.
