City man charged in cocaine possession, sale|CRIME & ACCIDENT

A Vicksburg man was arrested at his home this morning on charges of sale and possession of cocaine, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Terry Smith, 18, 210 Winters Lane, was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm after police found a Rough Rider .22 caliber revolver that had been reported stolen from the 2300 block of Pearl Street on July 24 in his home.

Smith remained in jail this morning with bond set at $30,000.

Three guns missing from towing company

A Smith and Wesson .22 firearm valued at $175, a Smith and Wesson .38 firearm valued at $290 and a Smith and Wesson .45 valued at $580 were reported stolen Thursday at 11:08 p.m. from Bell’s Towing, 615 Johnson St.

Police went to the building after the alarm sounded and found the front door glass broken and the guns missing, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Two residents injured in wreck on 61 North

Two Starks, La., residents were injured Wednesday when their vehicle struck a tree in the 2900 block of U.S. 61 North, according to Vicksburg Fire Department records.

Wilson Douget, 72, and Blade Burnette, 8, both of 4837 Evangeline Highway, were treated and released from River Region Medical Center, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said.
