Warren Central sets golf tryouts

Vicksburg High sets golf tryouts

Tryouts for the Vicksburg High golf team will be Monday-Wednesday at 4 p.m. each day at Clear Creek Golf Course. The tryouts are open to all students in grades 7-12. Players must have a physical and their own set of clubs. For more information, call coach Stewart at 601-636-2914.

Clear Creek hosts junior tournaments

Clear Creek Golf Course will host a fall junior tournament series. Competitive nine-hole tournaments will be held every Thursday at 3:30, through Oct. 30. Points will be awarded based on finish within an age group, and trophies will be awarded to the top performers.

There will also be an 18-hole series championship on Nov. 1 for the top qualifiers in each group.

All players must pass the Clear Creek junior players test before competing unsupervised. Registration fee for the series is $10 and includes greens fee and a bucket of range balls. For information, call Chris Rutherford at 601-218-8747.

Warren Central soccer team meeting

There will be a meeting for all parents, players and coaches of Warren Central’s soccer team on Monday at 6 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Parents of players are strongly encouraged to attend, and should bring any ad money that’s due to the booster club at that time.

YMCA sign-ups for soccer ongoing

The Vicksburg YMCA is taking registrations for Little Kickers and Strikers Soccer. The program is for children ages 4-8 and registration will end on Friday. The season will start on Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Raworth branch on Halls Ferry Road and on Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the VerBeck branch on Oak Ridge Road. Register at the Purks branch on East Clay Street.
