James A. Gregory

UTICA — James A. Gregory died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 85.

Mr. Gregory was a Virginia native and had lived in Utica for the past 50 years. He was former night police chief for the Town of Utica and retired from Hinds County as a heavy-equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Gregory; two sisters, Lula Cox and Nannie Glenn; and three brothers, William Gregory, John Avery Gregory and Eugene Taylor Gregory.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, including Aubrey Glenn.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at Glenwood Chapel in Utica with the Rev. Brad Harzog officiating. Burial followed at Utica City Cemetery.
