Knox, Gibbs to wed Nov. 1

The engagement of Khelli L. Knox to Deric D. Gibbs, both of Dallas, Texas, is announced today. The wedding will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 1, 2008, at Zion Travelers Baptist Church. A reception will follow at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Knox is the daughter of Georgia T. Knox of Vicksburg and the late J.W. Knox Sr. She is the granddaughter of the late Josephine K. Turner of Chicago.

Mr. Gibbs is the son of Beverly G. Carson of Vicksburg and the late Douglas D. Carson. He is the grandson of Velmateen Turner of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is an honor graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Color Guard, band, National Honor Society, Student Council and the History Club.

She graduated with honors from Southern University in Baton Rouge, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. She was a member of the dean’s list, Golden Key national honor society, Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor society and the Association for Computing Machinery.

Miss Knox is a systems recruitment analyst for Texas Health Resources in Arlington.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Rolling Fork High School, where he was a member of the Drama Club. He received an associate degree in telecommunications and electronic technology from Hinds Community College.

Mr. Gibbs is an inventory control clerk at H.D. Supply Distribution Center.
