The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Smith of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison M. Cook of Water Valley and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Smith of Banner.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Walker of Ripley. He is the grandson of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Walker of Booneville and Nelda Stokes of Ripley and the late Ervin Stokes.
Along the center aisle, arrangements of gypsophila and plumosus greenery flowing from tulle bows anchored the family pews and flowing tulle bows adorned alternating center pews. Centering the altar was a white arbor, covered with flowing satin fabric in the bridal colors. Each corner of the arch was accented with red roses, larkspur, orange gerbera daises, alstroemeria lilies, leptospermum, monte casino, gypsophila and bridal greenery. Matching arrangements were placed on each side of the altar and at the unity candle, which sat atop two white columns.
Guests were greeted by Lauren McNair and Kathryn Johnson and asked to sign a framed photo of the bride and groom. The table holding the framed photo also held a red rose bride’s bouquet.
Cindy Rollison played a selection of the bridal couple’s favorite hymns while guests were seated. The grandmothers and honor attendants were seated to “Come Thou Fount.” The parents lit the family candles and the mothers were seated to “Let Us Break Bread Together.” The bridal attendants and groom’s processional was “To a Wild Rose.” The bride entered to “Bridal March.” The bride and groom lit the unity candle to “Be Thou My Vision.”
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless, A-line gown in champagne satin. The gown featured beading of pearls and Swarovski crystals over a delicate lace appliqué under a pleated sweetheart neckline. Matching beaded lace embellished the hem and chapel-length train.
Her fingertip-length veil of champagne tulle was hand-trimmed in white pearls with additional pearls scattered throughout the veil. At the crown of the veil was a double row of pearls and crystals.
The bride carried a hand-gathered bouquet of red roses, orange statice and alstroemeria lilies framed with plumosus greenery and tied with red ribbon. She wore a single strand of pearls that had been worn by the bride’s mother at her parents’ wedding.
Matron of honor was Leah Smith Patterson, sister of the bride, of Brandon. Attendants were Susan Whittenberg of Vicksburg; Natalie Wallace Carraway, cousin of the bride, of Tupelo; Bailey Walker, sister of the groom, of Ripley; and Kathryn Cole Walker, sister-in-law of the groom, of Ocean Springs.
The attendants wore boat-necked, tea-length dresses in red satin with a peek-a-boo skirt and sash at the waist in persimmon. Each attendant wore handmade, red freshwater pearl earrings, a gift from the bride. They each carried hand-gathered bouquets of red roses and orange gerbera daisies accented with monte casino, gypsophila and bridal greenery wrapped at the stems in red ribbon.
Flower girl was Anne Clayton Beason, cousin of the bride, of Searcy, Ark. She wore a tea-length dress featuring a bodice of criss-crossed red satin ribbon accented with tiny red pearls. Her skirt held a sheer organza overlay trimmed with a row of criss-crossed ribbon at the hem and a red sash at the waist.
The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Tyler Walker, brother of the groom, of Ocean Springs; Jacob Walker, cousin of the groom, of Biloxi; Kenneth Hutchinson of Kiln; and Adam Vinson of Saltillo.
The bride’s mother wore a cream-and-gold two-piece brocade suit with three-quarter-length sleeves.
The groom’s mother wore a two-piece, silky crepe-and-chiffon dress also in cream. The sleeves and hem were enhanced with a ruffle of chiffon trim.
Both mothers carried a nosegay of red roses and orange gerbera daisies.
A reception followed in the fellowship hall of the church.
A large, crystal vase containing red roses, orange gladioli, red larkspur, orange gerbera daises and flowing bridal greenery adorned one food table. The other food table featured a large fruit arrangement, accented with flowers and placed beside a chocolate fountain.
The three-tiered bride’s cake, iced in white, was decorated with white scrollwork trimmed in champagne-colored pearls. Red ribbon encircled the base of each tier. A rhinestone encrusted W adorned the top layer and was surrounded with clusters of red roses with petals spilling over onto the lower tiers.
The groom’s cake was a square, one-tiered German chocolate confection decorated with a hunting scene. A miniature deer head mounted on the side and a black Labrador figurine at the bottom completed the cake.
The bride and groom were showered with multi-colored rose petals as they departed for a wedding trip to the Smoky Mountains.
