Arlene R. Thomas

Services for Arlene R. Thomas were at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Denny Allman officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at her home. She was 70.

Mrs. Thomas was a Warren County native. A 1954 graduate of Bowman High School, she received a Bachelor of Science from Florida A&M University. She was a retired social studies teacher from the Vicksburg Warren School District and a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, where she was a former Vestry member.

She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Beulah Cemetery Association and Episcopal Church Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Ruby Otis Thomas; and her grandparents, Lester and Roberta Otis and Isiah and Caroline Thomas.

Survivors include three sisters, Westine T. Wilson of Gulfport and Doris Thomas and Ruby Mae Thomas, both of Brentwood, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, Lawrence Thomas, Ria Conerly, Beth Thomas, Kerry Wilson, Christi Boyd, Stephen Thomas and Byran Wilson; six grandnieces and grandnephews; one great-grandnephew; and other relatives, including members of the Bell, Otis and Daniel families.
