Jeris “Sleepi” Carson and Carletta W. Thornton were married at 6 p.m. Aug. 30, 2008, in Greenville. Lois Williams officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Gloria Leasy of Greenville and the late Carl Thornton of Port Gibson. She is the granddaughter of the late Marie and S.T. Thornton of Port Gibson and the late Willie Cameron of Greenville. The groom is the son of Brenda and Earl Carson of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Deloris Brandon and the late Essex Brandon and Ernestein Carson and the late Earl Carson of Vicksburg.

The bride was given in marriage by her mother. A reception followed at Battlefield Inn. The bride and groom are employed at Tyson Foods.
