Services for Frances L. Beard were at 11 a.m. today at Yokena Cemetery with the Rev. John Ables officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beard died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Promise Hospital. She was 86.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Beard was the daughter of the late Edgar and Louise Wilson Jones. She was a longtime employee of Vicksburg Laundry and a member of Grace Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie D. Beard; one son, Johnnie “Duck” Beard; and two brothers, Buster Jones and Buddy Jones.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Amanda Meadows of Vicksburg, Jeannie Bohn of Huntersville, N.C., Ginger Whitehead of Dover, N.J., and Johnnie Beard III of Monroe; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were J.W. Wright, James Muirhead, Billy Gene Wright, Johnnie Beard III, Eric Bohn and Harvey Landers.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Paul Pierce, James Stanford and Font Beard.
