Getting ready

Published 12:00 am Monday, October 20, 2008

Breanna Hearn, 5, left, and Kayla Ainsworth, 7, get ready to carve or paint the last pumpkins in their grandfather’s pumpkin patch on Still Road. Donald Ray Ainsworth has helped his grandchildren plant the seeds for eight years — since his granddaughter, Ashley Emfinger, was 5 years old. Breanna is the daughter of Candy Walley and Ricky Hearn, and Kayla is the daughter of Kosha Beall and Tony Ainsworth. The girls planted the seeds in August and most of the pumpkins were picked about two weeks ago. Saturday, the last pumpkins were taken from the field. Trick-or-treating in Vicksburg for ages 12 and younger will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Oct. 30. (Suzanne Feliciano*The Vicksburg Post)
