Elsie Mae Stewart

Elsie Mae Stewart died Friday, Oct. 17, 20008, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 78.

Born in Phoenix, Miss., Mrs. Stewart had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 60 years. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and an honorary member of Culkin Volunteer Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Stewart Jr.; a daughter, Elsie Diane Stewart; and one brother, James Hampton.

Survivors include one son, Robert Lee Stewart III of Vicksburg; three daughters, Barbara Sue Bragdon of Toney, Ala., Carolyn June Stroup of Arcadia, La., and Pamela Kay Shows of Vicksburg; two brothers, Marion Hampton of Titusville, Fla., and Wilbur Hampton of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Ruth Williams of Zapata, Texas; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Kevin Marr, Michael Moore and Lanny McCann officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Thomas, Trey Smith, Chuck Tate, Robert Bragdon, Eddie Bragdon and Robert Wayne Wilkerson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Vicksburg Police Department and Culkin Volunteer Fire Department.

Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes or the Breast Cancer Association.
