ROLLING FORK — Memorial service for Lawrence T. “Dooner” Wade, 88, a retired communications and aeronautical engineer, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork, officiated by the Rev. Ed Lundin and the Rev. Green Baggett. He died Monday, Oct. 20, at Promise Hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, 10 a.m. at the church.
Mr. Wade was born, Sept. 19, 1920 at Grace, Miss., to Lawrence Thompson and Hannie Germany Wade. He grew up in the Grace area, attended school in Rolling Fork, graduated from Mississippi State in 1942, and was an aeronautical engineer with Douglas Aircraft in California during World War II. He returned to Mississippi with his family in 1945 where he helped establish South Delta Aviation. He later started his own business, Communication Specialists Inc. He was a lifelong member of Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jean Presley Wade. Dooner is survived by his wife Jane Aden Wade; his brother, James Rife and Alice Wade of Grace; his children, a daughter, Sandra and Green Baggett of Lewiston, Idaho; a son, Lawrence T. and Sandi Wade of Ellenton, Fla.; a daughter, Cathy and Bernie Beasley of Charleston, S.C.; and son, Neal and Penny Wade of Delta City; Jane’s daughter, Nancy and David Wansley of Vicksburg; her son, Merritt and Debi Aden of Vicksburg; her daughter, Lyn and Martin Jarshow of Edmund, Okla.; grandchildren, Wade Townsend, Greenfield and Thomas Baggett, Larry IV and Todd Wade, Nicole Brown, Bernie Beasley, Steen and Aden Wansley, Jared Aden, Jane, Christen and Catherine Jarshaw; and 12 great-grandchildren.
