Ethyl D. Harmon Jr.

BRANDON — Ethyl D. “Ed” Harmon Jr. died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at his home in Brandon. He was 88.

Born in Port Gibson, Mr. Harmon was reared in Vicksburg where he was a graduate of Carr Central High School and served as an accountant for Rose Oil Co. for 27 years. He was a charter member of the Vicksburg Kiwanis Club and on the board of Crawford Street Methodist Church.

After retiring from Rose Oil Co., Mr. Harmon moved to Jackson and worked as business manager for East Ford for 10 years. He had lived in Brandon for the last five years.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps for five years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Stephens Harmon in 1972; and a wife, Cordelia Stephens Harmon in 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Reba M. Harmon of Brandon; a daughter, Susie H. Hays of Brandon; two stepsons, Stuart Sanders of Brandon and Clark Sanders of Asheville, N.C.; two granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was at 11 a.m. today at Brandon First United Methodist Church.
