Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department phones were back in operation this morning for the first time since Thursday night.

A department spokesman said he was not sure when repairs had been completed, but calls were being received this morning.

Callers had heard a constant busy signal since last week and Monday. Purchased in 2005, the telephone system has been blamed for a number of service interruptions in the past two years.

Sheriff Frank Davis could not be reached.
