Services for David Sylvester Reed Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul M.B. Church in Bovina with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Tree Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mr. Reed died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at River Region West Campus. He was 55.

Born in Warren County, Mr. Reed was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church. He was a former football player at Rosa A. Temple High School and was a 1970 graduate of Warren Central High School. He attended Alcorn State University and was a graduate of Utica Junior College.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Reed Sr.; a brother, Dwan Dennis Reed; and a sister, Mary LaVonne Reed.

Survivors include two sons, Corbin Reed of Vicksburg and Michael Reed of Tallulah; two daughters, Delesia Reed and Tiffany Reed, both of Vicksburg; his mother, Gladys Reed of Vicksburg; two brothers, Calvin Reed and Alfred Reed, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Adrienne Middleton of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
