Questioning of three people arrested this week on identity theft charges has led to a fourth arrest and upgraded charges against one of the original three.
Marquita Promise, 25, was arrested at 5:35 p.m. Thursday at her home at 1900 Baldwin Ferry Road, Apt. 11B and charged with fraudulent use of identity and conspiracy to commit a crime, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart.
Promise’s charges stemmed from a credit card fraud reported Nov. 14, Stewart said.
The three facing charges in the same crime are:
Darquila McDaniel, 24, and Laken Magee, 23, both of 780 U.S. 61 North, Apt. 8D; and Laron Evans, 23, 1214 W. Magnolia St.
They were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and false pretense after they illegally obtained bank information to finance a shopping spree, Stewart said.
An additional charge of fraudulent use of identity were filed against McDaniel this morning.
“We arrested the three and it led us to Promise and she led us back to McDaniel,” said Stewart. “There is a possibility for more arrests,” he said.
All four were being held without bond in Issaquena County Jail this morning, pending their initial appearance today, Stewart said.
