Earline McMorris

BROOKHAVEN — Earline McMorris died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 79.
Mrs. McMorris was born in Lincoln County and was a former Bogue Chitto resident. She was a graduate of Lincoln County Training School and Tougaloo College. She was a retired educator, having worked for the Lincoln County Public Schools and at the Lincoln County Head Start Center.
She was a member of New Zion M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Sarah Black Dixon; her husband, Walton McMorris; a son, Charles McMorris; and eight siblings.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie McMorris of Vicksburg, Samuel McMorris of Brookhaven and Walton McMorris Jr.; two sisters, Ruby Cahill of DeSoto, Texas, and Irene Dixon of Houston, Texas; four brothers, Levell Dixon and Lawrence, Dixon, both of Dallas, Texas, W.D. Dixon of Brookhaven and the Rev. Walter Dixon of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other relatives.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at New Zion Union M.B. Church in Bogue Chitto. Burial will follow at Norfield-Bogue Chitto Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Mortuary in Brookhaven.
