Wilbur Smith died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 78.

Mr. Smith was retired from the Vicksburg National Military Park Maintenance Department. He was a member of Cedar Grove M.B. Church and former church secretary. He was worshipful master of Justice Lodge No. 4 A.F.&A.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Pearlie Matthews Smith; five brothers; three sisters; and a daughter, Bridgette R. Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Ceatrice Reese Smith of Vicksburg; a son, Christopher V. Smith of Vicksburg; and one granddaughter and one stepgrandson.
