AURORA, Ill. — Philip Griffin, formerly of Vicksburg, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Ill. He was 78.

Mr. Griffin was born in Vicksburg to Willie Mae ‘Days’ and Amos Griffin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Griffin; a sister, Helen Stewart; and a brother, Fred Griffin.

He is survived by his wife, Glory Griffin; three daughters, Debra Dillard, Denise Griffin and Yolinda Griffin, all of Aurora; three sons, Philip Griffin Jr., Stephen Griffin and Philbert Griffin, all of Aurora; a sister, Dorothy Griffin James of Vicksburg; three brothers, Amos Griffin Jr., Charlie Griffin and Earl Griffin, all of Vicksburg; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Georgia Lee Howard of Maywood, Ill., and Jimmy Williams and Curtis Anderson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Community Baptist Church with George Rayford officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at James Funeral Service in Aurora and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service.
