Tillie Underwood

Tillie Underwood, after a long and wonderful life, went home to be with her Lord God on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008. Tillie was born in Vicksburg, and her wonderful parents were the Right Rev. Michael Baroudy, the pastor at St. George Orthodox Church for a number of years, and Adeby Karlo Baroudy.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Underwood; two sisters, Marie B. Dooling of Vicksburg and Jeanette B. Brasfield of Brandon; and a brother, Michael Baroudy of Vicksburg.
Tillie and her husband, Gene, were in the radio business. In 1965, they put on the air WQMV, which was the first FM station in Vicksburg.
Tillie loved her church, St. George, and put much of her time into different church activities. She sang in the choir for many years and was also a very active member of the Women of St. George, which presents the Lebanese Dinner each year. Tillie put all her efforts into this dinner and loved it thoroughly.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. George Orthodox Church with the Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be John Brasfield, Bob Brasfield, David Brasfield, Wayne Thornton, Albert Habeeb, Jeff Caubarreaux, Fred Baldwin and Jamie Jabour.
Honorary pallbearers will be Freddy Abraham, Peter Mims, Johnny Mims, Charles Toney, Ben Hand, Ricky Mitchell, George Nasif, Charles Hadad, Elias Rantisi, George Tzotzolas, Charles Abraham, Richard Thomas, Clyde Ellis, George Habeeb, Ellis Farris and George Jabour.
