HERMANVILLE — George Gibson died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 85.
Mr. Gibson was a member of First Christian Church of Hermanville. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus Gibson and Pearl Grayson Gibson Phelps.
He is survived by eight sons, David Lee Gibson, Mark Anthony Gibson, Tyrone Gibson, Cornelius Gibson, Terry Johnson, Michael Johnson, Clyde Johnson and Maurice Polk; two brothers, Arthur Phelps Jr. and Earnest P. Phelps; four sisters, Johnnie R. Gibson Blake, Katie R. Gibson Markowitz, Lyma Phelps Weathers and Claudine Phelps Jones; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his caregiver, Cynthia McBride of Hermanville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Robert Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.
