Herman Peter Butler

Services for Herman Peter Butler will be at noon Saturday at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Butler died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 58.
He was a 1967 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and attended Jackson State University. He was past worshipful master for Mount Nebo Lodge No. 37 of Vicksburg.
Mr. Butler had worked at a number of restaurants, including Maxwell’s and Borrello’s, and was a former owner and operator of The Pub in Vicksburg. He had served as district manager for Shop A Minit Corp.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Izora B. and Prentiss Coleman Sr.; his father, Robert Lee Brown; and two brothers, Larry Earl Brown and Eugene Gilmore.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Butler; two sons, Daryl Wayne Owens and Tony Owens, both of Jackson; five sisters, Hattie B. Jones of Maryland and Willie Mae Stevenson, Betty Strong, Mary Brown and Carolyn Barnes, all of Vicksburg; 11 brothers, Joseph C. Connor, Alex Jackson, Michael Butler, Albert Butler, David Butler, Robert Lee Brown Jr., Jackie H. Brown and Don Garrett, all of Vicksburg, Prentiss Coleman of Pearl and John Butler and Danny Butler, both of Corona, Calif.; his stepmother, Julia Lee Brown of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including members of the Brown, Harris, Wells, Taylor, Smith and Cartwright families.
