Services for Charlie Griffin Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spring Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. Melvin Bolden officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service with family present from 5 until 6.

Mr. Griffin died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.

A retired carpenter, Mr. Griffin was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Willie Mae Griffin; two brothers, Phillip Griffin and Fred Griffin; and a sister, Helen Stewart.

Survivors include three sons, LuDuane Newton and Charlie Griffin Jr., both of Vicksburg, and Shon Griffin of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; five daughters, Tamika Griffin and Nikita Griffin, both of Brooklyn Park, Latrena Griffin of Bloomington, Minn., Aileen Flaggs Parker of Covington, Ga., and Rita Griffin Maxwell of Jackson; two brothers, Amos Griffin and Earl Griffin, both of Vicksburg; one sister, Dorothy James of Vicksburg; 22 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Christopher, Davis, Donerson, Copeland, James, Holmes, Griffin and Maxwell families.
