Paul Rufus Different

HATTIESBURG     — Paul Rufus Different died Friday, Jan, 3, 2009, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. He was 89.

Mr. Different, a native of Braxton, lived in Hattiesburg for 55 years. He retired after 43 years with South Central Bell. He had been a member of the Signal Corps during  World War II, having served in Burma, China and India.

He was a member of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and served on various administrative boards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Elect and Geneva Briscoe Different; and four brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Different is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mohon Different of Hattiesburg; a son, Paul M. Different of Vicksburg; two daughters, Carole Hicks of Birmingham, Ala., and Dianne Jones of Kennesaw, Ga.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.
