Michael Charles Butler died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 48.

Mr. Butler was a former self-employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Prentiss Sr. and Izora B. Coleman; two brothers, Herman P. Butler and Eugene Gilmore; his maternal grandparents, Tommy Caldwell and Emma Parker; and his paternal grandparents, Prentiss Coleman and Mary Handy.

Survivors include one daughter, Starleshia Nicole “Nikki” Houston of Vicksburg; eight brothers, Joseph C. Connor, Alex Jackson, Albert Butler, David Butler and Donald Garrett, all of Vicksburg, John Butler and Dannie L. Butler, both of Corona, Calif., and Prentiss R. Coleman of Pearl; four sisters, Willie Mae Stevenson, Mary Brown and Carolyn Barnes, all of Vicksburg, and Hattie B. Jones of Lexington, Md.; and other relatives, including members of the Coleman, Brown, Butler, Evans, Turner, Smith and Slaughter families.
