RODNEY — Johnnie Robinson Sr. died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at his home in Rodney. He was 70.
Mr. Robinson was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a member of Sunrise Lodge No. 579 in Lorman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lucinda Anderson Robinson; a son, Johnnie January; and two sisters, Elizabeth Winchester and Lillian Ross.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Robinson of Lorman; seven sons, Ricky Williams, Johnnie Robinson Jr. and Keshawn Robinson, all of Lorman, Terry Jackson of Fayette, Anthony Robinson of Louisiana, Gary Jackson of Mansfield, Texas, and Derontae Robinson of Peachtree, Ga.; three daughters, Sharon Banks, Debra Amos and Demetrice Robinson, all of Lorman; two brothers, James Robinson Jr. of Port Gibson and Prentiss Robinson Sr. of Lorman; two sisters, Elsie Ivy of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Mattie Johnson of Port Gibson; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Charles Shorts of Port Gibson, Lamonica Williams of Fayette and Ann White of Lorman.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mariah Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Stanford Cruel officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Churchill. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
