Man, 28, girl, 16, arrested on meth-cooking charge

A 28-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were arrested Sunday afternoon, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possessing two or more precursor chemicals.
Sherman Brewer, 1208 Mallet Road, was in Warren County jail this morning awaiting his initial hearing, said Sheriff Martin Pace. Pace said he doubted bond would be set for Brewer because he was on parole from a previous felony conviction for possessing two or more precursors.
The teen was in the juvenile detention center this morning.
About 3 p.m, deputies received a report of a car stopped along the road, with the driver getting out and appearing to hide something. Investigation turned up components of a small meth lab. The vehicle was traced to Brewer, and he and the juvenile were identified as having been in the car. They were arrested at his home.
Traffic stop leads to chase on I-20
A routine traffic violation stop Sunday morning resulted in a chase along Interstate 20 from the 4300 block of Halls Ferry Road to the Bovina exit, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.
Robert Lee Williams, 20, 1430 Maxwell St., was stopped by police at 11:47 a.m. for not wearing a seat belt. While speaking with police, Williams cranked his 2000 Chevrolet Impala, and took off, with police and Warren County deputies following in the 8-mile chase.
Willliams was charged with felony eluding. His bond was set at $2,500.
Candy bar theft lands man in jail
A sweet tooth got the better of a Vicksburg man Sunday and resulted in his arrest for third-offense shoplifting.
Charles Bohanon, 67, 340 Youngton Road, was charged with stealing a Baby Ruth candy bar valued at $1.12 from the BG Jr. convenience store at the Texaco Station at 4110 E. Clay Street, Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.
Bohanon was arrested nearby in the 100 block of Mississippi 27. His bond was set at $5,000.
Bowmar drive-by hits house four times
A drive-by shooting was reported to police Sunday at 5:44 a.m., police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
A residence in the 1300 block of Bowmar Avenue was hit four times, Stewart said. No one was injured and no suspects were named.
Bank window broken, car reported stolen
An auto theft, an auto burglary and a malicious mischief were reported to police over the weekend, Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.
The plate-glass window at the Trustmark Bank at Grove and Mission 66 was reported broken Friday morning. Stewart said the incident was logged as malicious mischief, with nothing reported stolen.
At 1:59 a.m. Saturday, a Panasonic CD player valued at $175 was reported stolen from a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am in the 1200 block of Jackson Street.
At 1:47 p.m. Sunday, the theft of a 1993 green Oldsmobile Cutlass was reported to police. The auto was in the 1500 block of Spring Street. The owner started the car, ran back in the house to get something and returned to find his car stolen, Stewart said.
The car, with Mississippi tag number WBC928, is valued at $1,500.
Felony traffic violations land man in county jail
A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for felony traffic violations.
Derrick Turner, 24, 401 Pleasant Valley Drive, was arrested at 11:08 p.m. on Belva Drive by deputies. He is charged with felony eluding, DUI refusal and a suspended driver’s license.
Turner was awaiting bond this morning.
Three women injured in two city wrecks
Two wrecks sent three Vicksburg women to River Region Medical Center Friday and early Saturday, rescue officials said.
Laura King, 41, 282 Curry St., was involved in a wreck at 1800 Cherry St. Friday at 3:37 p.m.
Theresa Odoms, 29, no address given, and Laquita Miller, 23, 130 Alcorn Drive, were involved in a wreck at 654 U.S. 80 at 2:58 a.m. Saturday.
All three women were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Also, Michelle Haynes, 42, 89 Red Hawk Road, who was injured Friday night when she was hit by a Kansas City Southern train as she walked on tracks near Lee and Levee streets was in good condition today at University Medical Center in Jackson, a spokesman said. She was tranferred to Jackson after initially being treated at River Region Medical Center.
Dirt bikes, golf flags missing in county
Four burglaries were reported over the weekend to the Warren County Sheriff’s office.
Three dirt bikes were reported stolen Saturday at 7:44 a.m. from an engine repair shop in the 1900 block of U.S. 80. One was recovered behind a grocery store across the street. The others are Yamoto 50-cc dirt bikes, one red and one blue. Each is valued at $750.
At 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Clear Creek Golf Course on Tiffentown Road reported that seven of the gold and black checkered flags along the course were missing. The flags with 7-foot gold-colored poles are valued at $60 each. Deputies said no tire marks were left on the greens where the flags were taken.
At 12:20 p.m., Saturday, a vehicle burglary in the 4100 block of Dogwood Drive was reported. Missing from the Silverado pickup were a JVC CD player valued at $200, a lever-action .30-30 rifle with a black Simmons scope valued at $400 and a black Motorola hand-held radio valued at $300.
At 8:52 p.m. Sunday, a residential burglary was reported in the 4900 block of Halls Ferry Road. Stolen was a Sony PlayStation 3 game system valued at $399.
