Hoye’s body was found the following day in Deer Creek after a friend noticed he was missing and organized a search party. An autopsy showed that Hoye died of blunt trauma to the head.

When the three were arrested in October, chief deputy Stanley Coleman said the motive for Hoye’s murder was under investigation but confirmed that Hoye’s wallet was missing.

The Traylor brothers were arrested Oct. 8. Williams surrendered to the Sharkey County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 16.

Coleman said then the investigation was being conducted in conjunction with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations with at least one cooperating witness.

Hoye, who was 40, left two sons and three daughters. He worked as a truck driver and was a member of New Fitler Hunting Club.

Cary is about 40 miles north of Vicksburg along U.S. 61 North.
