Fire destroys home on Halls Ferry Road

A Halls Ferry Road home was destroyed by fire Wednesday night, Warren County volunteer fire department coordinator Kelly Worthy said this morning.
The home of Eligah and Mary Buie, 5001 Halls Ferry Road, was “well involved” when firefighters arrived after the 9:42 p.m. call, Worthy said.
The Buies were at home when the fire broke out, but no one was injured. The cause is under investigation.
Sixteen firefighters from Fisher Ferry and Culkin volunteer departments fought the fire for three hours.
The 5000 block of Halls Ferry is near the road’s intersection with Laura Lake Circle.
County man charged with statutory rape
A Vicksburg man has been charged with statutory rape.
Kelvin Jones, 30, 780 U.S. 61 North, No. 10-A, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Wednesday at 4:50 p.m.
Jones was in the Warren County Jail this morning awaiting his initial hearing.
Tools, camera taken from truck in city
Tools and a camera were reported stolen in a vehicle burglary in the city at 1:57 this morning, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Missing from a 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup in the 2400 block of Drummond Street were a socket set valued at $100, a survival knife valued at $50, a tool kit valued at $100 and a Kodak Easy Share digital camera valued at $100.
