‘Da Vinci’ author to speak in MC series

Daryl Bock will speak during Mississippi College’s 2009 Evangelism Lecture series, set for Feb. 2-3 on the Clinton campus. Events are free. For information, call 601-925-3218.

Bock specializes in New Testament studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and is the author of “Breaking the Da Vinci Code,” which made the New York Times best-seller list for hardback nonfiction in May 2004.

Bock will be part of MC’s 2009 Evangelism Lecture series, which will run Feb. 2-3 and is sponsored by the MC Institute of Christian Leadership.

The first lecture will be called “What Got Jesus Killed and Why It Matters for You.” It begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 at Anderson Hall East in the B.C. Rogers Student Center. A reception will follow the hourlong session.

At 10:50 a.m. Feb. 3, Bock will preach during chapel services at First Baptist Church in Clinton. His talk will be called “Jesus and the Spirit.” That afternoon, Bock will deliver two lectures. The program begins at 1 and concludes at 4.

Bock has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, a master’s in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and a doctorate from the University of Aberdeen. He and his wife, Sally, have two daughters and a son. Bock serves on the staff and as an elder at Trinity Fellowship Church.

MC, affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention, is a private, coeducational, Christian university in Clinton with nearly 4,900 students.
