Gators rip two-time defending champion Provine|Prep basketball

Sophomore Mychal Ammons scored 26 points and snagged seven rebounds to lead the Vicksburg High Gators to a 64-51 victory over two-time defending Class 5A champion Provine at the Martin Luther King Jr. Classic at Lanier High in Jackson.

Vicksburg, which improved to 14-4, also got 14 points from Kelsey Howard and 10 from Maurice Williams. Provine fell to 16-6.
