Doris Stampley Wilson

Doris Stampley “Doll” Wilson died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Stampley, Miss., to Claude and Lucy Stampley. She later moved to Vicksburg, where she was employed by J.L. Nappier Paint Co. She was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Caleb Wilson Sr.; her parents, Claude and Lucy Stampley; a brother, Claude Stampley Jr.; one daughter, Katie Scott; one son, Willie Stampley; three grandchildren, Jasmine Sweet, Rosie Gamble Nichols and Randy Tenner; and one great-granddaughter, Linda Early.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Wilson Sr., Curtis Wilson and Arthur Wilson, all of Vicksburg, and Edward Wilson of Raleigh, N.C.; five daughters, Bertha Gamble of Fayette and Rosie Tenner, Eva Wilson Hayward, Cora Sweet and Sadie Randle, all of Vicksburg; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Stampley, Gamble and Daniels families.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
