Ruby Webb Scott

ROLLING FORK — Ruby Webb Scott died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 88.

Mrs. Scott was born in the Fame community near Clarkston. She was a charter member of Mayersville Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a production supervisor for Delta Elastic Co. in Rolling Fork until her retirement in 1985 and moved to Rolling Fork in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Marshall and Velle Shaffer Webb; three brothers, Aubrey Webb, Curtis Webb and Dr. Lester Webb; two sisters, Nellie Webb Mitchell and Lillie Webb Wilson; and one son, Barner Beverly Scott.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Barner B. Scott of Rolling Fork; one daughter, Barbara Brogden of Pineville, La.; two sons, Ralph Edward Scott of Saucier and Thomas Vollie Scott of Rolling Fork; one brother, Dr. Purvey Webb of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Millard L. Caulder officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church Friday from noon until the service.
