Virginia Johnson Prevost

Virginia Johnson Prevost died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at her daughter’s home. She was 87.
Born in Zama, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Alva Johnson and Anna Mae Phillips Johnson.
Mrs. Prevost had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1984. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church, where she taught the Dorcas Sunday School Class for a number of years.
Mrs. Prevost was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Alexander Prevost; two sons, Edwin Prevost and Larry Prevost; and one sister, Lois Breazeale.
She is survived by her daughter, Jaynie Bridges and her husband, Billy, of Vicksburg; three granddaughters, Holly Wiggs of Jackson, Cindy Basco of Ruston, La., and Nicole Slaughter of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandsons, Bryan Bridges of Jackson, Lance Liehr of Oak Grove, La., and Eddie Prevost of Amsterdam, N.Y.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Carson Ridge Cemetery in Kosciusko at 3 p.m. Monday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service.
