A Vicksburg man was shot twice this morning outside the Elks Club at 916 Walnut St., police Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.
Reco Reed, 33, was in serious condition this morning in the intensive care unit at University Medical Center in Jackson, a hospital spokesman said. Police gave Reed’s address only as in the 1200 block of Price Street.
Reed was shot in the shoulder and the left side of his chest, Stewart said. He was taken by friends to River Region Medical Center, where police were notified at 1:30 a.m.
He was later transferred to UMC.
Reed had been seen “talking loudly” with another man outside the club just before shots were fired, Stewart said.
“It has been notorious for Sunday night shootings and shots being fired,” Stewart said.
On July 17, 2005, David Anderson was shot “multiple times” outside the Elks Club and died at the scene. Another man, John King, was also shot but recovered. No charges have been filed in the shootings.
No description of the other man was given to police, Stewart said.
