2 held on charges of having guns

Weapons charges landed two Vicksburg men in the Warren County Jail Monday.

Bill Ray Howard, 39, 5302 Gibson Road, turned himself in to police at 6:55 p.m. in response to a warrant issued for his arrest. He was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon in an arrest on Dec. 5. He was being held on $10,000 bond.

Darryl Williams, 16, 1312 Bowmar Ave., was arrested at noon and charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Bond had not been set this morning.

Nine burglaries reported in Vicksburg

Nine burglaries were reported in Vicksburg Monday and early this morning, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

* An iPod valued at $250 was reported stolen at 9 a.m. from a 2000 Jeep Cherokee in the 1900 block of Grove Street.

* An AM-FM radio/CD player valued at $150, 12:28 p.m. from a 2000 Mazda 626 in the 600 block of Poplar Street.

* A Sony CD player valued at $225, 12:37 p.m. from a 1993 Dodge Dakota in the 1100 block of Washington Street.

* A Motorola RAZR cell phone valued at $150, 2:08 p.m. from a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 1900 block of Grove Street.

* A wallet containing $470, 2:25 p.m. from a 2006 Honda Odyssey in the 3500 block of Manor Drive.

* About $46, 4 p.m. from a 2000 Ford Focus in the 2300 block of Clay Street.

Residential and business burglaries included:

* About $15, at 11:30 a.m. from a home in the 600 block of Fairgrounds Street.

* A Durabrand home entertainment system valued at $400, 4 p.m. from a home in the 2500 block of Franklin Street.

* About $50, 3:35 today from Cuzz’s barbecue, 4002 U.S. 61 South.
