REPORT|Man gets 15 years for child porn, filming minor
A Bovina man was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison on one count of possessing child pornography and one count of filming a minor without permission.
Willie Lee Jackson II, 43, 100 Willow Run, had been charged with multiple counts of possession and filming, but avoided a trial by pleading guilty Dec. 15 to the two counts.
Assistant District Attorney Dewey Arthur said in accepting the plea prosecutors did not offer a reduction in sentence but that Jackson had to “throw himself on the mercy of the court.”
“We didn’t make an offer in this case because it’s one of the most heinous cases of child pornography we’ve ever seen,” Arthur said. “We’re happy that the judge took him out of the population and hope it sends a strong message that child pornography harms not just the child, but society as a whole.”
Jackson will serve 10 years in prison on the first charge, and five years on the second. He faced a maximum of 45 years.
He must also pay $7,322.50 in fines and costs.
Victims were present in the courtroom Friday and were pleased with the sentence, the District Attorney’s office said.
Other sentencings in Warren County Circuit Court for the week ended Friday:
