Luvenia H. Ellis died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at her home. She was 94.

A homemaker, Mrs. Ellis was born in Nitta Yuma. She was a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent and a Sunday school teacher. She was on the mother board and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ellis; her mother, Florence Culpepper; a sister, Bernice Buchanan; and her father.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas Lee Johnson of Madison, Leon Lane of El Paso, Texas, and Robert Lane of Tallahassee, Fla.; three daughters, Alice Marie Edmond, Faye Ann Johnson and Florence Marie Johnson, all of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
