Earl Barrett Batchelor

Earl Barrett Batchelor died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at the Mississippi State Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 82.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Batchelor was a self-employed homebuilder. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Alfred Gordon Batchelor Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Jane B. Batchelor of Vicksburg; two sons, Barry Batchelor and Tom Batchelor, both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Anne Rutland of Vicksburg, Mary Jane Bevill of Cartersville, Ga., and Jennie Lake of Port St. Joe, Fla.; two brothers, George Batchelor of Tallulah and Gordon Batchelor Jr. of Collins; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Service will be at noon Friday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bovina with the Rev. Billie Abraham officiating. Burial will follow at St. Alban’s Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Rutland, Jason Rutland, Ben Bevill, Barrett Lake, George Batchelor and Don Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Kette and David Toler.
