Linda Bess Markos died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 61.

Born in Gallman, Mrs. Markos had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1949. She was a graduate of H.V. Cooper High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thaddeus L. Sims.

She is survived by her husband, Demos Markos of Vicksburg; one daughter, Melina Markos-Perkowski of Davie, Fla.; two sons, Demos Markos Jr. of Bellingham, Wash., and Thaddeus “Thad” Markos of Vicksburg; her mother, Mary Helen Sanders Sims of Vicksburg; a brother, Andy Sims of Gallman; and six grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced by Riles Funeral Home at a later date.
